Learning Support Coordinator

  The College is seeking a Learning Support Coordinator  who is responsible for the coordination of support to student with additional needs. The main responsibilities of the position include:

 The main responsibilities of the position include:

  • Planning, chairing and actioning items from PSG meetings;
  • Coordination of all learning support officers;
  • Liaison with primary schools to ensure smooth transition into year 7;
  • Complete submissions to the Catholic Education Melbourne (CEM) for funding additional needs students;
  • Create Individual Learning Plans for funded students;
  • Liaise with external bodies in the provision of screening, testing and support for students who have additional needs’;
  • Formation of support strategies for students;
  • Monitoring and catering for the needs of students with physical disabilities;
  • Assist staff to differentiate and accommodate students who have additional needs;
  • Other duties as required.

The successful applicant will have a teaching qualification and demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Demonstrated understanding of the wellbeing and pastoral care needs of students in a Catholic secondary school for boys;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team;
  • Experience and understanding of the major issues impacting upon the education of boys;
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully develop innovative curricular and co-curricular initiatives that enhance educational outcomes for students with additional needs;
  • Strong administration and organisational skills.

    Key Learning Area Leader - Languages

    The College is seeking a Key Learning Area Leader - Languages  who leads the development, implementation and review of all Language programs from Years 7-12. The KLA Leader is a member of the Curriculum Leadership Team (CLT) and will have an understanding of curriculum at all year levels. The main responsibilities of the position include:

     The main responsibilities of the position include:

    • Participating and contributing to the Curriculum Leadership Team that will meet on a regular basis with the Assistant Principal (Learning) and other KLA leaders;
    • Collaborate with faculty staff to ensure course documentation is complete using online resource;
    • Convene and conduct meetings of the Faculty to lead the process of curriculum development and delivery;
    • Participate in, and advise on the preparation of Courses of Study (content and processes) with Faculty members and endorse the final products and their distribution, after consultation and approval from the Assistant Principal (Learning) ;
    • Collaborate and advise on all aspects of assessment procedures and work requirements with Faculty members in keeping with College Curriculum guidelines (ensuring Victorian Curriculum, Australian National Curriculum and VCAA compliance) and endorse the final products after consultation with the Assistant Principal (Learning);
    • Work closely with the Assessment and Reporting Coordinator to monitor the accurate input of assessment tasks;
    • Ongoing management of allocated budget, including approval for spending and reporting of budget variances to the Assistant Principal (Learning) and the Business Manager;
    • Ensure that course descriptions conform to the curriculum policies and practices of the College, and that subject teachers teach within the guidelines of the course description. To this end regular audits should be conducted;
    • Responsibility for the appropriate reporting and assessment processes within the department based on College policy;
    • Other duties as outlined in the position description.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with a team of teachers;

    Italian Teacher

     The College is seeking an Italian Teacher  who is responsible to teach the subject in accordance with the stated aims of the curriculum as approved by the Key Learning Area Leader. The role of the subject teacher is to develop engaging and challenging curriculum and positive relationships with boys to enhance learning outcomes. The main responsibilities of the position include:

     The main responsibilities of the position include:

    • Provide opportunities to engage students in a variety of learning experiences where students are encouraged and supported in achieving personal excellence;
    • Provide students with a positive role model through their actions as a committed Catholic educator;
    • Teach Italian classes in line with courses of study developed by Teaching and Learning teams or as part of the VCE;
    • Be able to assist students with individual and group work in accordance with the work requirements outlined in course of studies;
    • Assist the Key Learning Leader in reviewing, designing and developing curriculum;
    • Demonstrate leadership in developing engaging curriculum and teaching strategies for staff;
    • Work as part of a team of Faculty and/or College based staff;
    • Work as part of the teaching staff at St Bernard’s College;
    • Other tasks as directed by the Key Learning Leader and Deputy Principal;
    • Be involved in our extensive extra-curricular program.

    The successful applicant will have a teaching qualification and demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Experience in teaching Italian;
  • Understanding of and demonstrated commitment to the Catholic philosophy and ethos of education;
  • Understanding of the pastoral care needs of boys in a Catholic secondary school;
  • Experience within a Catholic educational organisation an advantage.

     The College is seeking a Retreats Coordinator  who will assist the Assistant Principal (Identity) in coordinating spiritual retreat programs for all students Years 7–12. The main responsibilities of the position include:

     The main responsibilities of the position include:

    • Design and maintain a curriculum of spiritual retreats across all year levels;
    • Facilitating retreats, including overnight and off-campus activities;
    • Lead a team of College staff to co-facilitate and support the retreats program;
    • Booking facilities and purchasing resources;
    • Other duties as required.

    The successful applicant can have either a teaching or non-teaching qualification and demonstrate the following competencies:

  •  Experience in retreat programs or associated youth work.;
  •  Experience in retreat leadership;
  •  Understanding of and demonstrated commitment to the Catholic philosophy and ethos of education;
  • Experience within a Catholic educational organisation an advantage.
