Welcome to Bernie's Two Minute Friday where we will invite you to take a couple of minutes out from your busy schedule to read about what is happening in the world - all with a St Bernard’s Old Collegians focus.

"They Rescued Us!" Prof Fred Cahir (SBOC 1980)

Old Collegian Prof. Fred Chair has released another fantastic book, this time with a focus on early Australian history.

"A revealing new Australian history book from SBOC (1980) Professor Fred Cahir has revealed amazing – and previously largely overlooked – stories of heroic rescues by Aboriginal people of non-Aboriginal people from the earliest days of the invasion of Australia. ‘They Rescued Us! Aboriginal Heroes on Country’ chronicles and discusses how hundreds of individual Aboriginal people across the continent of Australia rescued colonists from life threatening situations, including bushfires, floods, shipwrecks and being lost in the bush. The research also formed the basis of the documentary ‘Acts of Heroism’, while the rescue events were catalogued spatially through the ‘Aboriginal Heroes of Fire, Food and Flood’ web portal."

Contact Fred directly for your specially priced copy ($25) of the book. F.cahir@federation.edu.au

SBC Business Breakfast Success!

The College's first Business Breakfast of 2024 was a resounding success, with 70 attendees enjoying an enriching morning.

The event kicked off with a captivating presentation by Mr. Milo Rasinac, a Partner at McDonald Upton and a seasoned expert in real estate, who offered valuable insights into the local property market.

The highlight of the event was the comprehensive analysis presented by Nicholas Quinn and Jesse Moors from Spatium Capital. They delved into the current dynamics of the ASX, demonstrating their adeptness at pinpointing undervalued equities, which has resulted in superior outcomes for their clients and a track record of outperforming other capital fund managers.

For those interested in staying abreast of market trends, we strongly recommend viewing Spatium Capital's latest quarterly update video. It's an excellent resource for understanding their strategic approach to investment.

A massive Thank You to everyone involved this morning, the SBC Business Breakfasts are great opportunities for our community to connect and celebrate the success of our Old Collegians - We are looking forward to the next one!
