Welcome to Bernie's Two Minute Friday where we will invite you to take a couple of minutes out from your busy schedule to read about what is happening in the world - all with a St Bernard’s Old Collegians focus.

Bernie's Spotlight - Bernard Saundry

We are thrilled to introduce a new regular feature that celebrates the remarkable accomplishments of our Old Collegians! Aptly titled "Bernie's Spotlight," each edition will aim to highlight a successful Old Collegian, celebrating their achievements and offering a snapshot-style biographical article about them.

Bernard Saundry (SBOC 1979)

Bernard Saundry was appointed as RSN’s Chief Executive Officer on July 11, 2022. Prior to this role, he served as the CEO of New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing for five years. His extensive experience in sports administration includes leadership positions at various organizations, such as Racing Victoria, Harness Racing Victoria, Western Bulldogs, and the national racing broadcaster Thoroughvision (TVN). During his tenure as RV Chief Executive, he played a pivotal role in establishing Racing.com, which now broadcasts Victorian and South Australian thoroughbred racing on its digital platform and Australia’s only dedicated 24/7 free-to-air television channel.

RSN Chairman, John Stewart, expressed excitement about Saundry’s appointment, emphasizing his deep knowledge of Victoria’s racing codes and his ability to lead and build racing broadcasters. Saundry himself looks forward to rekindling working relationships within the three codes of Victorian racing and ensuring that RSN remains the station of choice for racing fans and punters.

Additionally, Bernard has been involved with AFL New Zealand, where he has served as Chairman and Director. His demonstrated capacity to manage and develop key commercial outcomes across various stakeholder environments underscores his successful track record in sports administration.

Bernard Saundry brings a wealth of experience and expertise to RSN, and his leadership will continue to shape the network’s informative and engaging broadcasts centeredaround showcasing Victorian racing.
