Belonging to one of the various parent groups is an excellent way to extend connections with the College and the extended St Bernard’s community, coming together to support the boys and build lasting memories!

Social Justice Network

The St Bernard’s College Social Justice Network (SBCSJN) is an inspiring initiative established in 2012. Comprising parents and caregivers, this group shares a common belief in encouraging and facilitating our own and our sons’ interest and involvement in social justice. We meet monthly to explore how social justice can come alive more fully in our lives and families. By actively participating in the network, members serve as role models for this commitment.

Our College Motto

‘Discere et Agere’

(to learn and to do) truly comes to life through the SBCSJN.

We embrace the challenge of making a difference by ‘doing’ - taking meaningful actions.

OUR VISION

We believe in the intrinsic goodness of humankind and we believe that through the positive relationships and partnerships of parents, staff and students working for social justice for all, we can help our children have a positive hopeful view of the future.

Working together, we will model and nurture an inclusive community and help build student capacity and resilience to be confident champions of justice and solidarity.

We will help to create young men characterised by their social awareness, compassion, and active gospel spirituality.

The St Bernard’s College Social Justice Program focuses on the things that will make a difference to others: generosity, reconciliation, protection of the weak, forgiveness, expressions of gratitude, inclusion, sharing of resources and service.

Welcoming Community Group

The Welcoming Community Group (WCG) at St Bernard’s College plays a vital role in creating a sense of community among families. They aim to enhance the experiences of both students and parents and caregivers as they journey through the school.

The WCG is one of the oldest volunteer groups associated with the College. It began its journey as the Ladies Auxiliary group and has since contributed countless volunteer hours to the College community. Their commitment extends beyond mere participation; over the years they actively engaged in activities such as working bees, fundraising BBQs, assisting in the canteen, and coordinating smaller refurbishments of the College gardens.

By being part of the WCG, individuals become woven into the rich tapestry of the community. They celebrate their shared history and ensure a generational connectedness that transcends time. Together, they create an environment where everyone feels welcome and valued.

The Welcoming Community Group facilitates several events throughout the year, including:

  • Year 7 Induction Evening
  • Year 7 First Day Morning Tea
  • Mother’s Day Breakfast (Year 12)
  • The Ladies Night Out
  • Special Person’s Day (Year 7)
  • Wellbeing Week Morning Tea
  • Year 12 Final Day Morning Tea
