College Musical

Our annual College Musical is a highly anticipated event that is held in conjunction with St Columba's. It provides a fantastic opportunity for students to explore their creativity and showcase their talents in a supportive and collaborative environment.

The Musical is an inclusive event that encourages students to get involved in all facets of the production, from on-stage performances to ensemble work, prop creation, lighting, and sound. Regardless of their interests or skill level, there is a role for every student to play in bringing the production to life.

This is a fantastic opportunity for students to develop their confidence, communication skills, and teamwork abilities. Students work closely with their peers and teachers to create a high-quality production that is enjoyed by the entire College community.

The College Musical is also a great way for students to explore their passion for the Arts and to develop their skills in areas such as singing, dancing, acting, and stagecraft. It provides a platform for students to express themselves creatively and to gain valuable experience in the performing arts.

Year 9 Play with Ave Maria College

We are delighted to offer our Year 9 students a unique and ongoing extracurricular opportunity to collaborate with the Year 9 students from Ave Maria, a local girls' school, on producing a combined play. This partnership has been running successfully for the past year, and we are proud to continue it.

Our Year 9 students have the chance to hone their artistic and dramatic skills while building meaningful connections and friendships. The stunning theatre at our Resurrection House campus provides the perfect setting for the students to explore their creativity, and we are eager to witness the talent and imagination that will be on display during this collaboration.

This program is just one of the many ways we strive to encourage our students to pursue their passions and develop their skills beyond the traditional classroom setting.

Music Ensembles

Music is an integral part of the St Bernard's College community, and we believe that every student should have access to a comprehensive and holistic co-curricular music education program. Our diverse music program includes a wide range of teacher-led ensembles, covering all genres of music.

Some of the co-curricular music ensembles offered at St Bernard's College include the symphonic band, flute ensemble, drumline, liturgy band, rock band, string ensemble, showband, clarinet ensemble, violin ensemble, guitar ensemble, concert band, and choir. We believe that learning a musical instrument should be more than just a hobby, as it provides numerous benefits for students throughout their academic journey and beyond.

Participating in music education helps students communicate, collaborate, and develop their personal sense of creativity. It also assists the brain in making connections that support learning in other areas such as literacy, numeracy, and language. Additionally, it improves personal organisational skills, supports students in expressing and engaging with personal emotions, and assists in building personal confidence.

At St Bernard's College, we strive to provide an inclusive environment where every student can explore and develop their musical talents. Whether they are beginners or advanced musicians, we encourage all students to participate in our co-curricular music program, which helps them discover the joy of music and build skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.
