Throughout Term 2 the Year 8 Football Academy put away the boots and have been training for an altered version of the game – Indoor AFL. The confined version of the game played 7 a side, helps develop the players decision making in tight spaces, zone defence and short skill execution.
The 18 boys were split in 2 teams ‘Team Heppell’ vs ‘Team Garcia’ with Year 12 mentors Zac Trucolo and Corey Barbaro joining in to play and coach. After a number of morning training sessions in the college gym, the Year 8 Football Academy took to Action Indoor in Tullamarine last Friday to play a match. After an arm wrestle back and forth Team Heppell prevailed as champions, winning 23.12.150 over Team Garcia 23.11.131. ‘Best on Ground’ was awarded to Charlie Tudor.
Congratulations to all boys involved in the Year 8 football program for their participation last Friday and for their great start to the year in the classroom.
