Caedin Wall (Year 10) wrote the below reflection piece after a recent media studies excursion, its always great to see what our students take from learning opportunities such as these.

Dear Newsletter Readers,

We are thrilled to share an exciting opportunity with you, an exclusive visit to the popular game show, "Millionaire Hotseat"!

Our year 10 Media and Film Studies class successfully secured tickets to attend this highly anticipated event held at The Docklands.

This excursion provided invaluable insights into the world of television production and the art of editing, including the integration of music, overlays, questions, and cutaways.

One of the major highlights of this excursion was the opportunity for our students to engage with the renowned host, Eddie McGuire. We had the chance to ask him questions and gain a deeper understanding of his role as a television presenter and the fascinating world of game shows. Eddie McGuire's presence adds an extra layer of excitement and learning.

Throughout the day, we immersed in a live game show production. We witness first-hand the coordination of cameras, lights, and sound, gaining a behind-the-scenes understanding of how television magic is created. The energy of the production crew and the thrill of watching contestants vie for a chance to win a fortune.

This included one of our own students (Zac Welsh) securing a $100 cash for his audience participation.

This excursion aligned perfectly with our Media and Film Studies curriculum. Providing our us with a real-world application of the concepts we have learned in class. It deepened our appreciation for the intricacies of television production, including the role of editing in enhancing storytelling and engaging the audience. Experiences like these broaden our horizons enabled us to see first-hand future career possibilities in the industry.

Thank you to Ms. Cassar, Mr. Soler & Ms. Caminiti for the opportunity
