Final Assembly
2024
10 December 2024
As we gathered for our final school assembly of the 2024 academic year, the event commenced with a Liturgy, setting a reflective and celebratory tone.
One of the standout moments was the recognition of our students who participated in the Australian Mathematics Competition, one of the largest math competitions globally. Our Assistant Principal (Learning) commended the exceptional achievements of our entrants, noting that over 10% earned a Distinction, placing them in the top 20% of their year and region. Additionally, nearly 60% of entrants received a Credit, ranking them in the top 55% of their cohort. This remarkable performance showcases the strong mathematical abilities within our student body.
Our Portfolio Captains then took the stage to share their successes in various domains throughout the year and to unveil exciting plans for 2025 initiatives. Their enthusiasm and commitment to enhancing the College experience were truly inspiring.
The College Captain delivered a stirring speech that motivated everyone present, reminding us all of the importance of unity and perseverance as we look forward to the new year.
A special moment of recognition was provided by our Principal, who presented two outstanding staff members with Edmund Rice awards. Ms Joanna Wilkinson was honoured for her exceptional work as Lifeblood Team leader, advocating for blood donation and organising annual school recycling drives aimed at reducing waste. Also recognised was Ms Judy Eastman for her outstanding efforts on the Container Recycling Challenge initiative, promoting environmental sustainability within our College community.
Our Deputy Principal also shared encouraging words, reflecting on the year gone by and looking ahead with optimism.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our talented musicians who performed beautiful pieces throughout the assembly, enhancing the festive atmosphere of our farewell gathering.
As we conclude another year filled with achievements and memories, let us carry forward the spirit of community and excellence that defines St Bernard’s College into 2025 and beyond.
